Upload an image by dragging it into the drop zone or clicking to select. The image is displayed with a crosshair cursor. Move your mouse over the image to see a magnified preview of the area around the cursor. Click anywhere on the image to pick the color at that exact pixel. The picked color appears in a large swatch with its HEX, RGB, and HSL values - click any value to copy it. Your color history shows the last 10 picked colors for easy comparison and re-use.
Color picking from images is essential for: extracting brand colors from logos and design assets, matching colors in a photograph for web design, building color palettes from inspiration images, identifying exact color values in UI mockups and screenshots, copying colors from reference designs to your own projects, analyzing color schemes used in successful websites and apps, finding complementary colors for design harmony, and translating physical color samples photographed with a camera into digital color codes.
This tool draws the uploaded image onto an HTML5 Canvas element and uses getImageData() to read pixel values at the cursor position. The magnified preview extracts a small region around the cursor and scales it up for visibility. RGB to HEX conversion uses toString(16) with zero-padding. RGB to HSL conversion first normalizes RGB values to 0–1, calculates the hue from the channel differences, lightness as the average of the max and min channels, and saturation based on the lightness and channel range. All calculations happen in real-time as the cursor moves.
Upload your image, then simply click on any point in the image. The tool will extract the exact color at that pixel and display it in HEX (#FF5733), RGB (rgb(255, 87, 51)), and HSL (hsl(11, 100%, 60%)) formats. You can copy any format with one click.
The color picker reads the exact pixel value from the image data, so it's 100% accurate for the digital color at that pixel. Note that if the image was compressed (JPEG), colors may have slight compression artifacts compared to the original.
